In pitching everyone knows how critical it is to have an excellent fastball with high speeds. Here I will present to you a simple secret that you can start implementing in your pitching practice today. Now consider this is a very simple technique but you still must try it as hard as you can, remember the harder you work the better your results. Are you ready? You can begin improving your pitch today by improving your stride and body flow. It’s that simple and easy but you need to determine in your mind that you will start working on this every pitch. You will not see results overnight! This is a continuous practice and the more you put in the more results you will see. Just by simply improving your stride and body flow can increase you by 5 mph in just a matter of a few weeks. Here are three easy steps you can take to improve your stride and body flow which will ultimately increase your pitching speed, velocity, and mechanics.
1) It is crucial to be 100% focused to obtain good timing.
2) Every pitch think “LONGGGGG STRIDEEEEE” (look up pitchers & mimic their stride great ex. Nolan Ryan)
3) Lastly, you need an instantaneous fast explosion into your landing. Remember to have good body control but explode into your landing as fast as possible.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to diligently practice your stride and body flow everyday; not just a sloppy pitch but a good one and then repeat it. It will do you no good to practice a sloppy pitch, so think every practice every pitch could ultimately decide how well you improve. However, more importantly than how effectively you practice is your safety. Make sure you always stretch before any training and to always use good pitching stances and techniques, and not ones that could potentially cause your arm any harm.
“One of the beautiful things about baseball is that every once in a while you come into a situation where you want to, and where you have to, reach down and prove something.” – Nolan Ryan
This could be your chance where you can finally reach down and prove something, achieve those pitching goals you have always wanted to. Also remember how much hard work and well you try to implement theses few techniques i have given will ultimately decide how well your pitch improves and becomes.
